Gift a Garden Project

In May of 2019, 2 adult members of Dayna’s iCare Foundation (DIF) and 4 young DIF volunteers traveled to San Juan Puerto Rico, and then to Juana Diaz where the team stayed at the home of Pastor Negron and his lovely wife Santi Negron, who were awesome hosts.

Pastor Negron assessed and selected families that could benefit from our “Gift a Garden” project, where we provide families with all the supplies they need to plant and grow a garden.  This project is near and dear to our hearts because we strongly believe providing families with a “Gift a Garden”, promotes healthy eating, provides nutritious food at no cost, encourages family bonding through a project everyone can participate in, and it teaches the basic principles of life science.

The mission was successful.  We provided 12 families, with a total of 27 children, “Gift a Gardens”.  We also spent time in fellowship with each family, and praying for those who desired prayer.

As a team, we enjoyed this project and Puerto Rico immensely.  The weather was beautiful and the people were so kind and loving.  The best part was the experience this project afforded our young people.  They learned the importance of giving and how rewarding it is to be charitable.  Each of them expressed that they also really enjoyed learning and experiencing different cultures.
